From Research Lab to Urban Mushroom Farm
As i wrote in part 1 , we had to adapt to survive:We decided to channel everything we had learned about fungal biology and cultivation into something tangible, sustainable, and close to people’s daily lives:
A small urban mushroom farm in the heart of Erlangen.
Today, 22nd February 2026 we:
Grow local gourmet mushrooms
Develop mycelium-based products
Offer easy-to-use grow kits so anyone can grow mushrooms at home
Reinvest almost everything back into improving our lab and production
We have no salary, upssssss
Our system is built on circular principles. We use organic substrates from local, we dont pesticides, we are looking for local farmers or people that can give a second life and make compost with our spend substrate blocks
We are working everyday to become more and more sustainable
The Reality Behind the Dream
Growing 5–10 kilograms of mushrooms per week? Easy!!!
Growing enough to build a sustainable business? A completely different challenge.
Mushrooms are living systems. They demand precision, cleanliness, patience, and constant problem-solving. Contamination happens. Equipment fails. Plans change everytime.
You don’t do this because it’s easy. You do it because you believe in it
